2012 Race for Hope: Event details
Events Include a 15K, 5K and Kids 1K Fun Run

- 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. 15K Run and Kids 1K Fun Run Registrations
- 7:00 – 8:30 a.m. 5K Run and Walk Registrations
- 8:30 a.m. 15K Walk and Kids Fun Run Begin
- 8:45 a.m. Blessing and Dove Release Ceremony
- 9:00 a.m. 5K Run and Walk begin
- 10:30 a.m. Sponsor Recognition and Awards
Packet pick-up will be available Friday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, 230 Nebraska Street, Sioux City, IA.
Race day registration and pakcet pick-up will begin at 7 a.m. at the shelter house at Adams Nature Preserve, McCook Lake, SD.
From I-29, Exit at #4 McCook Lake. Proceed 1 mile west, 1/2 mile south. Watch for parking attendants.
The course runs along the beautiful Adams Nature Trail. Each mile will be marked and water will be available on the course. Course maps will also be available.
15K and 5K: $35.00 includes green cotton shirt while supply lasts.
1K Kids Fun Run: $10.00 includes short-sleeved green shirt; all participants receive a prize. Top boy and girl ages 11 and younger receive a traveling trophy for their school. Kids activities and crafts will be offered from 9 – 11 a.m. The visitors center will also be open.
All participants require signed waiver/entry.
Mail in registrations are accepted if postmarked by September 10.
Post Race Celebration
Food will be provided to all registered participants. Event day activities are also included.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Open male and female winners
1st, 2nd and 3rd Masters male and female winners
1st place prize values $150.00; 2nd place prize values $100.00; 3rd place prize values $75.00
Age group awards will be given to the top 3 men and women (who did not win an Overall category) in the following age categories:
14 & Under, 15-19; 30-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-59; 70 & Over (no duplication of prizes)
A yellow cotton long-sleeved shirt is available indicating cancer survivorship.
All proceeds (100%) from this event go directly to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center to benefit programs and services for the patients of the Cancer Center and their families.
