Provides medical oncology nursing care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and meeting established Cancer Center standards. Will administer chemo, perform workroom duties, complete evaluations, and assist in pharmacy, etc.
Must possess strong clinical skills. Current RN license required and clinical experience in acute care setting or equivalent experience strongly preferred (additional experience in oncology beneficial). Need to be CPR and mandatory reporter certified or willing to become certified.
Assistant performs patient assessment using established protocols in friendly, courteous manner. Takes medical history and updates patient information accurately in an EMR. Prepares patient charts including all applicable lab and radiology reports for physician. Stocks and cleans exam rooms. Files, copies and sends out all patient correspondence records and reports electronically. Completes medical record requests as needed. Will assist with disability forms and receptionist duties as needed.
Must be an LPN or have completed a medical assistant program and externship or have equivalent work experience. Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently and multi-task in busy environment while maintaining high degree of accuracy.
