Welcome Dr. Behzad Mowlazadeh, New Medical Oncologist & Hematologist

We are excited to be adding a new medical oncologist and hematologist to our expert provider team here at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. Please help us welcome Dr. Behzad Mowlazadeh.

“My goal is to partner with each of my cancer patients and become their team member to alleviate their suffering,” says Dr. Behzad Mowlazadeh. “I always try to make sure apatient feels that they are not alone in this struggle. I am compassionate and understanding of the emotions they are going through and I am truly focused on my patient’s hope and healing.”

Dr. Mowlazadeh has been in practice for more than 28 years as a medical oncologist and hematologist serving Veterans as a front-line clinician. He joined the June E. Nylen Cancer Center from the Bay Pines Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida where he served as Chief of Hematology/Oncology.

In addition to a distinguished career in oncology and hematology serving Veterans, Dr. Mowlazadeh is also proud of the fact he was an Assistant Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School and has been Principal Investigator for many cancer clinical trials.

Dr. Mowlazadeh says he was drawn to the passion he could see and feel from the leadership and all employees at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. He says, “It was apparent everyone that works here believes it is their mission to improve the quality of life and care for these patients.”

Raised by a single mother as his father passed away when he was just a baby, Dr. Mowlazadeh says his mother is his hero because she stressed the importance of education. He credits her for being where he is today due to her ambitions and efforts.

When not working, Dr. Mowlazadeh and his wife enjoy traveling, hiking, mountain biking, and dining out.
