Your First Appointment

Sometimes your first visit is scheduled by the medical office of the physician referring you. Other times, our new patient coordinator will call you to find a time that works best for you and give you information on what you can expect during your first appointment.

We encourage you to bring a list of your medications, your insurance card, and list of questions with you to your appointment.

Bring a Support Person

A diagnosis of cancer or a blood disorder can be stressful, so it can be helpful to have a support person with you.  Your loved ones or friends are welcome to come to your appointments. Patients coming from a nursing home or care facility are required to have someone accompany them to their appointment.

The space in our patient rooms is limited, so please keep this in mind as you bring support people with you. One or two visitors are welcome to join you for your appointments except for in the infusion treatment area where no more than one visitor may accompany you. We ask that no children under the age of 18 come with you. Conference calls with additional family members or support persons are welcome.

Masks are optional in our facility. Our staff and physicians will wear one if you request us to.

For the safety of our patients with compromised immune systems, anyone with cold or flu symptoms should not come with you. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please wear a mask.

Scheduling Future Appointments

Our patient portal allows you to conveniently look up your upcoming appointments as well as lab results and other information related to your care. The portal is available 24/7, giving you quick access to your medical record.

You can also sign up to receive text message reminders about your upcoming appointments. To sign up, text JENCC to 622622 or contact our patient navigation program for assistance.

Length of Your Appointment

The length of your appointments can vary based on your treatment plan. For example, chemotherapy patients typically need lab work before their chemo medications can be prepared. We encourage you to speak with your doctor so you know what to expect for future visits.

When you arrive for your appointment, you will receive a beeper to alert you when your care team is ready to see you.

Billing and Insurance

You likely have concerns about the cost of your care. To assist our financial navigator please bring a copy of your insurance card to your first visit. We will sit down with you to explain your insurance coverage as well as our billing process.

If you do not have insurance or are worried about the balance you owe, our team can explain financial assistance programs that may be available to you.
