Where your money goes
Your gift provides life-changing – even life-saving – services and resources for our patients. You can determine if your gift goes to our unrestricted fund to support the greatest areas of need or to a designated fund you would like to support.
Our current areas that you can allocate your gift to include:
CURRENT PRIORITY: A multi-phased facility renovation and expansion project of the June E. Nylen Cancer Center is being planned for the near future. These renovations will allow more patients to be cared for each day than currently, decrease patient delays, improve patient flow and experience, improve workspace efficiencies, allow expanded programs and services – both clinical and support, add health care jobs to the clinic, improve physician and staff morale, and add revenue to the organization. The first phase of renovating and expanding the chemotherapy infusion prep area and medically integrated dispensary is estimated to cost $2.3 million and will start later in 2024.
Financial assistance fund to help patients pay for rent or mortgage, utilities, and food so they can free up other funds to pay for out-of-pocket expenses for treatment and focus on healing
New equipment and technology that helps us continually advance and provide state-of-the-art treatment
Wig boutique and resources to support patients physically and emotionally during their cancer journey
Transportation assistance to ensure patients are able to get to and from their treatment appointments
Prevention and screening services to lessen the risk of cancer and help in the early detection of the disease (an example would be our Lung Cancer Screening, Head and Neck Cancer Screening, Skin Cancer Screening, Sunscreen for Siouxland project, and more)
Genetic counseling and testing to help us continue to expand this newer service that helps persons pre-diagnosis understand their risk for cancer and take steps to lower the cancer risk or detect it early. Or, when cancer is already diagnosed, genetic testing can help patients make informed decisions on the most effective course of treatment.
Or you can leave your donation unrestricted which allows our organization to use your gift for our current priorities or a need that arises. Each year we also use some of our unrestricted donations to allow all employees an opportunity to request funds for ideas that would enhance patient care, support our strategic goals, and/or enhance the JENCC culture. Examples that have been previously funded include new chemotherapy recliners, samples of nutritional products for patients so they can trial before purchasing themselves, and Treatment Support Kits for new patients to receive after their first chemotherapy treatment that contain products to help them manage their side effects.

Support the merchants who are participating in TAGG, upload or submit a picture of your receipt within 7 days of purchase, choose the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, and the participating business will donate a percentage of your purchase back to us (usually 5%). Plus, you earn points to redeem for bonus donations, business gift cards, and more. More information about TAGG can be found here.

Employer Matching Gift
Many companies will match charitable contributions made by their employees. This means your donation could double or even triple.
Ask your Human Resource Department if you have a matching gift program and then request a matching gift form. The form usually requires the charity’s federal tax ID number which we can complete here at June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
Corn for Cancer - or any agricultural commodity
A farmer can have significant tax savings by donating corn directly to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center (corn, beans, grain, or any agricultural commodity). We make money by selling the donated corn and the farmer gets tax reductions greater than just donating cash. Gifts like this would qualify for the tax reductions and help support our mission of providing hope and healing to Siouxland through quality, compassionate cancer care. A farmer must file as a self-employed person. While there are a few exceptions, be sure you discuss this with your tax advisor if you qualify for any of them and to determine any implications specific to your situation prior to making the gift.
