Siouxlands first “BBQing Hogs for Hope” will be held this Saturday, October 4th at the Sioux City Explorers Parking Lot (Lewis & Clark Park, 3400 Line Drive). This event includes a full day of activities for the community with a free will donation which will benefit the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.

Tayvin Schmoll, 14 years old, has raised more than 3,000 dollars that he has donated to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. Tayvin has taken on organizing a new event that will center on a barbecue rib contest with samples, and the public will get to vote on their favorite ribs.

They begin cooking ribs at 8 a.m. and sampling will begin at 2 p.m. There will also be bouncy houses and local vendors and a car show starting at noon.
Tayvin has big expectations and says, “My goal is to raise 5000 dollars for this one.” There will be a “Kiss the Pig” contest at 4 p.m. with KTIV’s Matt Breen there to kick it off.

If you or someone you know has ribs that can stand up to the test, email:
