10th Annual Carrie Mach Outing a Success
Golfers hit the fairway Friday, Aug. 6 for the 10th annual Carrie Mach Memorial Golf Outing at Green Valley Golf Course.Over $46,000 was raised from the golf outing. These funds will be used to help people touched by cancer at Mercy Medical Center, the June E. Nylen Cancer Center and Hospice of Siouxland. In total the golf outing has raised nearly $350,000 since 2001.A 12:30 p.m. shotgun start, an afternoon of golf, dinner and door prizes completed the day’s activities. Due to phenomenal support, the tournament was at capacity with golfers. The outing is an annual ritual of the Mach family – a calling to continue Carrie’s mission of love. Carrie died in 2000 at the age of 17 after a long battle with cancer. Despite her own debilitating illness, Carrie reached out to help others. She volunteered for children’s causes and cancer-related efforts, and often ministered to those who needed hope and encouragement. Because of Carrie’s courage and compassion, Rick, Ann and the Mach family and friends continue her work by raising money for cancer care in Siouxland.Next year’s event is scheduled for Friday, August 5, 2011.For more information please contact Pat Hubbard, director of fund development, June E.
