ATV Poker Run at Talsma's Trail Park on Saturday, July 30 to Benefit Cancer Care at JENCC
Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 30 and get your ATV motors running for a great event at the Talsma’s Trail Park. Organizers have planned the second annual Cancer Benefit Ride/Poker Run to benefit the Patient Assistance Fund at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
Join the fun and adventure of riding ATV trails in South Dakota along the Missouri River at Talsma's Trail Park on the Trails End Ranch located near Avon, SD. The property has been in the Talsma family for three generations and continues to operate as a cattle ranch to this day. Jerry and Tina Talsma opened the ATV trail park in 2005 with several hundred acres of designated trails for all to enjoy. Trails range from easy to extreme, and include climbing hills, creek crossings, scenic river bluffs, deep brush, open prairies, and river bottom terrain. There are also several play areas where riders can kick up some mud. Talsma's is a family-oriented park and offers ample off-road trails for riders of all abilities. More information about Talsma's Trail Park can be found on their website or their Facebook page.
No pre-registration is needed - just show up the morning of July 30. For more information on this fundraising event, call (712) 203-0344.
The June E. Nylen Cancer Center is able to offer financial assistance to our patients through the generosity of charitable donations from our staff and the community. We understand there can be financial burdens during cancer treatment and our Patient Assistance Program provides support to aid with mortgage/rent, utilities, groceries, and other needs to free up funds for patients’ out-of-pocket treatment costs.
Financial toxicity in medicine describes problems a patient has related to the cost of medical care. Several studies show that cancer patients and survivors are more likely to have financial toxicity than are people without cancer. Cancer is one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat in the United States. Cancer treatment can affect your ability to work and pay your bills and sometimes the stress of how you will cover the cost of your treatment and other expenses during treatment is just as great as the actual diagnosis.
Thank you for helping us break down the barriers to cancer treatment and providing financial assistance when it’s needed.
