Banking for a Cause helps Cancer Patients

Central Bank raised nearly $1,300 to support cancer patients at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The second annual promotion, “Bank for a Cause” was held in October to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds to support local cancer patients.“This promotion was very exciting for members of the bank and our customers as they raised money and awareness of breast cancer,” said Steve Boden, Vice President, Central Bank. “It made the most sense to help cancer patients locally as it benefits the entire community.”A bake sale and $10 from every box of “pink breast cancer awareness checks” sold was donated to the cancer center, along with the option to purchase a link in the “Hope Chain” to honor and remember cancer survivors all contributed to the cause.Proceeds from this event will go towards the June E. Nylen Cancer Center’s Patient Assistance Fund which provides financial support to cancer patients at a time when help is most needed. Support includes financial assistance for rent, utilities, food, clothing, gas and other items needed to sustain quality of life and help ease some of the financial stress of a cancer diagnosis. For more information, contact Pat Hubbard, Director of Fund Development at the CancerCenter at 712.252.9352.
