Care Enough to Wear Pink - Sioux City Professional Firefighters Association & IAFF Local 7

Sioux City Professional Firefighters Association and IAFF Local 7 have donated $3,500 to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. The gift represents proceeds from the sale of t-shirts for their “Care Enough to Wear Pink” campaign.“We saw that fire departments across the United States were celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month in October so we decided to support people in our own community,” said George Glass, firefighter and organizer of the event. “We had pink t-shirts designed and sold them during the month of October at several firehouses in Sioux City and the response was tremendous!"The Cancer Center will use the money to fund screenings through the Fight like a Girl free mammogram program, which pays for screening mammograms to underserved women in the community.“We are very grateful for the support of the Sioux City Professional Firefighters Association and IAFF Local 7,” said Pat Hubbard, Director of Fund Development with the June E. Nylen Cancer Center. “The Siouxland community will benefit from this significant donation.”The Cancer Center directs charitable donations to programs that help patients and their families.
