Let's Flock Together to Fight Cancer This October

Don't be surprised to see several flocks of flamingos migrating around Siouxland metro yards this October - all to help raise awareness and funds for the June E. Nylen Cancer Center.

Flocks of these pesky but lovable bright pink flamingos will migrate from yard-to-yard every 24 to 48 hours asking for a donation. As people forward the JENCC flamingo flock, they are asked to help spread the awareness as well by posting a photo to Instagram and Facebook along with the hashtag #flocktogether2020.

Outright donations are also appreciated even if you didn’t get flocked. We have a fun yard sign for you to help raise awareness.

We hope everyone appreciates the spirit and good that with which this fundraiser was intended. However, cancer is no laughing matter and this disease continues to impact our community. According to the American Cancer Society 1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer at some time in their life. More than 150 people visit the June E. Nylen Cancer Center each day for hope and healing.

The donations raised through this surprise and festive fundraiser will go towards upgrading our PET scanner. State-of-the art imaging technology including the positron emission tomography (PET) is an important tool in the diagnosis and staging of cancer, including re-staging of the disease throughout treatment.
