LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program and membership designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their “new normal”. The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not disease! No cost to participants with strong personal desire to improve physical and mental wellbeing. Meets twice weekly for twelve weeks.LIVESTRONG at the YMCA staff have been specially trained to work with cancer survivors and patients and follow American College of Sports Medicine and American Cancer Society exercise guidelines for post-cancer rehab exercise. They’re experts who understand the unique physical needs and concerns of cancer survivors and can safely help address them. Our supportive instructors work with each participant and fit the program to their individual needs.Consult your oncologist or a hospital oncology representative before joining the program for medical clearance. For more information or to enroll, contact Jacque Perez at 402-404-8439 or jperez@nwsymca.org
