Commercial Chaos for a Cure Raises Record Amount
Sanborn, IA was taken over by big rigs on Friday–Saturday, July 24-25 for the seventh annual Commercial Chaos for a Cure and the event raised a record $30,000 to help drive out cancer at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center (JENCC).
In partnership with the Tri State Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society (ATHS), Commercial Chaos included a truck pull, tractor pull, pickup pull and burger feed on Friday evening and a bobtail semi poker run on Saturday. Yesterday Memories & Truck Memories Museum was open on Saturday and the event concluded with a pulled pork dinner as well as the drawing and announcement of the raffle winners.
Commercial Chaos for a Cure was started after Paul Schelling, a Sioux Center native who owned a trucking company, was diagnosed with stage 2 cancer in his 20’s. Once in recovery, he along with his family and friends wanted to find a way to spread awareness about cancer and give back to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center where he had his treatment. And thus, their unique fundraising event was born and has been growing each year. Funds raised this year went towards their four-year pledge to help advance the radiation technology at JENCC (they are the naming sponsor for Radiation Treatment Room 2).
Commercial Chaos for a Cure has raised $104,000 over the years to benefit our Cancer Center and we are extremely grateful to their Board who leads the organization, the sponsors, and many supporters. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and you have definitely made a difference to our patients!
