JENCC's Inpatient Cancer Care Nurse Coordinator Wins Nursing Award
We are excited to share that our Inpatient Cancer Care Nurse Coordinator, Deb Pierce, was one of five nurses honored during Nurses Week this week at the Sioux City Journal's 4th annual "Nurses, the Heart of Health Care" awards.
Deb has been an oncology nurse her entire career of 40+ years and for the past 30 years, has worked for JENCC and its predecessor oncology practice. Deb works closely with our medical oncologists to coordinate inpatient hospital care for the more critical cancer patients at both Sioux City hospitals and their oncology floors. Deb herself does all the admission orders for patients and instructs patients and their family members on the chemotherapy regimens. But more so in her role, Deb provides comfort care and is the key connection between the hospital cancer patients and our cancer center physicians and staff.
Congratulations, Deb, and thank you for all that you do!
