Meet Dr. Donald B. Wender, Medical Director
Dr. Wender has seen almost everything in his cancer career, including the multiple decades he has practiced in Siouxland. But he is most proud of being involved in some first studies and very early clinical research trials for colon, breast, and lung cancer. Dr. Wender was actually one of the first medical oncologists to use new drugs with ovarian and renal cancers. He truly has been on the forefront of advancing cancer treatments.
While earning his Ph.D., Dr. Wender did not want to stay in lab research and knew he’d continue with his medical degree. He was drawn to oncology because of how challenging it was, but also how it continued to change. That holds true today – he still loves to read about all the advancements and new treatments available.
Known for being very knowledgeable, analytical, and direct, Dr. Wender is also a hard worker. He has been married for nearly 45 years and has 6 grown children from ages 40 to 23.
When not working, Dr. Wender enjoys exercising and playing tennis or golf.
